The 2014 OUSCI Invite List!
In this episode of the podcast show Larry and I had the chance to break down the final set of points qualifiers for the 2014 Optima Ultimate Street Car Invitational! This marks the 7th year for the event, and it is bigger than ever at this point. It has become the culminating event of the SEMA show itself and is something many people now build cars just to compete for an OUSCI invite with!
As of this show post there will be 91 competitors in the field, with the first 42 invites earned through 12 different events throughout the year in the following four categories:
GT2K (Under 3000 Pound Car)
GT3K (Over 3000 Pound Car)
AWD (Any All Wheel Drive Car)
SOE (Spirit of the Event)
Since some of this gets a little complicated we dedicated the entire show to breaking it down, with extra time spent on the 20 people who qualified in on points strictly. Points invitations were awarded based on season-long points, which were determined by their finishing points position at their best three events. The top points leader in each class (who was not already qualified) was invited, as well as the next 17 in points, regardless of class.
