April 2012 Chevelle Build Update - Body Meets Frame, Old Quarters Come Off, and New Ones Go On!

Frame, meet Body. Body, meet Frame!

It seems like it's been a year since my last Chevelle Build Update, but rest assured, a LOT has been happening over at Allison Customs, and my Chevelle is several steps closer to becoming a real car again. Since I spent the majority of the most recent update talking about the 3 cows we hit coming home from Jeff Allison's shop, this one will be dedicated purely to the car itself.

We'll start off with the big news: for the first time in nearly a year, the body bas rejoined the frame! Well, technically speaking, the body has temporarily rejoined the frame, as the next several steps in the build process will require that the body come on and off several times. Since Jeff had finished all of the major structure work on the car already (floors, rockers, trunk floor, mini-tubs, massive amounts of freaky rust repair, cool roll cage fabrication, etc.) the next area he wanted to tackle was the installation of the full factory-style quarter panels that we bought from National Parts Depot (the same place we purchased ALL of the sheetmetal for this project). His words to me about the next step of the project specifically were, "It's going to get cosmetic!"
